Valentine's Day is the day to surprise the one you love; your boyfriend, girlfriend or a secret love you have been secretly in love with for moths. This year, Valentine's Day was a big success. Many couples, deeply in love, bought each other stuff. I did some research on what people bought and the outcome was quite surprising, I must say! I would've expected lots of jewelry and perfume, but this year, this wasn't the case. Popular items this year: greeting cards and candy. Nevertheless, going on a date with your loved one was also very popular, but that is always nice of course. I think greeting cards have always been a big hit on Valentine's Day, because that way you can send an anonymous declaration of love to someone. I remember sending them when I was younger and it's definitely the easiest way of telling somebody you like him. With a special card, it's even easier so I can imagine why you would buy something like that.
Not popular this year: flowers and plush. That is very unexpected! I always like to get flowers and I think other girls would agree with me. I believe boys think plush is not cool enough, but I think you can never go wrong with plush. I think the best Valentine's gift is jewellery. That's what boys should buy girls. People bought more gift cards than jewellery this year, as my research pointed out. Boys, that should change! I would rather have a nice piece of jewellery; a gift card is not personal at all!
