Tevens participeert het Istituto Cervantes in het project SICELE (Sistema Internacional de Certificación del Español como Lengua Extranjera). Dit is een samenwerkingsverband van Spaanse en Latijns-amerikaanse universiteiten met het Instituto Cervantes om de inhoudelijke kwaliteit, transparantie en coherentie van de examens Spaans als vreemde taal te garanderen. Het SICELE is officieel in 2007 in Columbia opgericht tijdens het IV Congreso Internacional de la Lengua Española. Voor meer informatie klik hier.
